Pi Mainnet Applications Close to Record-Breaking Milestone
82 Apps and Counting
Pi Network (@PiCoreTeam) has reached 82 operational Mainnet applications, putting the project just 18 launches away from the symbolically significant 100-app mark. The figure represents a sharp acceleration in ecosystem build-out for a network that recorded only 67 Mainnet apps as recently as May 2026.
Pi Network counts more than 55 million engaged Pioneers, users who have downloaded the mobile application and actively participate in its daily mining mechanism, making the scale of the potential addressable market for those applications unusually large by blockchain standards.
Protocol 26 Sets the Stage
The app count expansion follows the completion of the Protocol 26 upgrade, which required all Mainnet node operators to complete the update by August 11, 2026, to remain connected to the network. The upgrade focused on core infrastructure, improving smart contract safety, data management, and cryptographic tools.
Protocol 26 is one of the final protocol upgrades before Protocol 27, which is expected to complete the current series of network improvements. The Pi Core Team has previously outlined three conditions for reaching an Open Mainnet: completing comprehensive technical work, achieving necessary regulatory and compliance milestones, and demonstrating sufficient decentralization and ecosystem maturity. Protocol improvements such as v26 are widely regarded as building blocks toward meeting those conditions.
