When @Dusk_Foundation describes how NPEX market information is intended to come onchain, it can sound as though the information and the financial asset are the same thing. They are not.
Dusk says it is adopting Chainlink data standards with NPEX. DataLink will deliver official NPEX exchange data to the blockchain, while Data Streams will provide price updates. These tools are intended to carry market information.
A price label can tell us about an item, but it is not the item itself. In the same way, onchain market data does not by itself establish that an asset has been issued, owned, transferred, settled or made available to trade onchain.
The practical value is clarity: data can support a market workflow without replacing the asset it describes. Which would you want confirmed first the information flow or the asset's own status?
