When I first looked at Dusk Network, the interesting part was not just privacy. It was how several technical pieces fit together.
At the core is Proof-of-Blind Bid, a privacy-preserving leader extraction mechanism inspired by Private Proof-of-Stake systems such as Ker+19 and GOT19. This becomes the foundation of Segregated Byzantine Agreement (SBA), a permissionless, committee-based Proof-of-Stake protocol designed for near-instant finality and a negligible probability of forks.
Then comes Phoenix, a UTxO-based privacy-preserving transaction model. It lets users spend non-obfuscated outputs confidentially, which matters for quasi-Turing-complete execution where the final cost is unknown until execution ends.
There is also Zedger, built for regulatory-friendly security tokenization and lifecycle management. Its Sparse Merkle-Segment Trie keeps account memory private while publicly exposing selected root information.
And finally, Rusk VM, a WebAssembly (Ros21)-based Virtual Machine, brings native zero-knowledge proof verification and efficient Merkle Tree creation.
