On August 7, 2026, Grayscale withdrew its SEC registration statements for three proposed spot ETFs tracking Cardano (ADA), Hedera (HBAR), and Polkadot (DOT).

The company filed Form RW requests under Rule 477 — all within about three minutes of each other. In the filings, Grayscale stated it “does not intend to proceed with the planned distribution” of the shares.

Key points:

- None of the registration statements had been declared effective

- No shares were ever issued or sold

- No preliminary prospectus was distributed

- This was a voluntary withdrawal by Grayscale, not an SEC rejection

The related exchange listing proposals (NYSE Arca and Nasdaq) had already been withdrawn months earlier. Other Grayscale altcoin filings (including Bittensor, Aave, BNB, NEAR, and Zcash) remain active in preliminary stages.

ADA, HBAR, and DOT each dipped roughly 2% on the news as the market digested the coordinated retreat.

What’s the takeaway?

Grayscale appears to be pruning its pipeline — focusing resources on products with clearer demand or regulatory paths while keeping the door open to refile later. Flagship Bitcoin and Ethereum products remain unaffected.

Another reminder that not every altcoin ETF filing is destined to launch.
