South Korea’s Supreme Court has drafted new civil enforcement rules that could let courts freeze, seize, and liquidate Bitcoin and other virtual assets in civil disputes — not just criminal cases. ⚖️₿
Under the proposal:
🔒 Exchanges could be ordered to identify & freeze a debtor’s crypto within 7 days
💰 Seized assets could be sold or transferred to creditors
🏦 The rules mainly target exchange-held crypto
🔑 Self-custodied wallets remain much harder to reach
Public comments close today, with an October rollout targeted if the proposal moves forward.
The bigger picture? 👀
Governments are increasingly treating crypto as legally attachable property, bringing digital assets closer to traditional financial assets.
For traders, this could mean:
📈 More regulatory legitimacy.
⚠️ More compliance pressure.
🔐 Greater focus on custody choices
But the big question remains:
Does this make crypto feel more legitimate — or will it push more holders toward self-custody? 🤔
