Trump held a roundtable with U.S. miners at the State Department today, pledging to restore America's dominance in mineral production.

"We are putting our miners back to work, and we're reclaiming America's rightful place as the minerals superpower of the world," Trump said.

He added he didn't need notes for the meeting because of his "great love" for the industry, saying miners "haven't been treated well for many years."

The event signals a push to boost domestic mining and reduce reliance on foreign mineral supply chains.
