Unpopular opinion...

AI agents now initiate over 3% of on-chain transactions, up from near zero 18 months ago. This shift is redefining what crypto asks of AI infrastructure.

• Decentralized compute networks are becoming the primary home for agent workloads. Rentable GPU capacity on Akash and Render is 40% cheaper than centralized clouds, with the price gap widening as demand for inference grows.
• Verifiability is the edge. zkML and TEE-based inference let agents prove they ran the exact model requested. Without this, autonomous agents cannot be audited. Crypto solves that trust problem natively.
• Token economics create a real market for compute supply. Gensyn and other validated compute protocols reward nodes for solving unsolved AI tasks. That turns idle hardware into a productive asset class, not just mining dust.

The next wave of AI agents will need identity, reputation, and payment rails. Crypto provides those as permissionless primitives. The real opportunity is not AI using blockchain for settlement. It is machine intelligence becoming accountable to checkable math rather than locked corporate APIs. That is a future worth building. Agent-native networks will be the largest users of decentralized compute by 2027.
