For a long time, I got used to checking the S&P 500 whenever I wanted to understand where Bitcoin might go next. Since 2020, the two markets have often moved in the same direction, so seeing stocks rally while Bitcoin barely moves feels unusual.

This month, U.S. stocks have continued to climb, with the S&P 500 reaching new highs. Under normal circumstances, many people would expect Bitcoin to benefit from the same risk-on sentiment. Instead, BTC has spent weeks trading in a relatively tight range.

The more I looked into it, the more it made sense. This isn't a broad market rally lifting every risk asset equally. Much of the momentum is concentrated in AI and semiconductor companies, where investors are chasing earnings growth and technology narratives. Bitcoin isn't directly tied to those themes, so it doesn't automatically attract the same capital.

There are also macro factors at play. Lower oil prices may help reduce inflation pressures, but the impact on Bitcoin is less immediate because it depends on how inflation influences future Federal Reserve policy. That process takes time.

To me, this suggests Bitcoin may simply be waiting for a different catalyst. ETF demand has cooled compared with earlier periods, so the next major move could depend on clearer regulations, stronger institutional participation, or continued stablecoin adoption rather than following the stock market.

Do you think Bitcoin is just taking a pause before its next move, or are stocks and BTC starting to follow different paths?
