I keep coming back to one detail in the Babylon-Aave V4 proposal that most coverage glosses over: the liquidation flow deliberately splits into two timelines. Liquidators can swap seized BTC vaults for WBTC at a small premium to settle debt on Aave quickly, while a separate set of permissioned arbitrageurs later purchase those escrowed vaults, repay the WBTC obligations, and redeem the underlying BTC on Bitcoin according to native-chain timing. That's a clever workaround for Bitcoin's slow settlement, but it also means the system's actual health during stress depends on a secondary market of arbitrageurs showing up with capital when things are already ugly. Fast Ethereum-side liquidation and slow Bitcoin-side redemption aren't the same event, and the gap between them is where risk quietly accumulates.

What makes this more than a technical footnote is scale. But capital efficiency gains built on a two-speed liquidation mechanism deserve scrutiny proportional to the dollars involved, not just optimism about the architecture. The proposal is still at temp-check stage, and that's exactly when these assumptions should get stress-tested, not after mainnet.
