I keep coming back to Babylon because the idea is simpler than it first looks: BTC stays self-custodial on the Bitcoin network, yet it can still help secure PoS systems through Babylon Genesis. The docs say the design avoids wrapping or bridging, uses slashing and finality providers, and the original litepaper describes fast unbonding and a modular setup for different PoS chains.

That feels more real now that it has moved past the whiteboard stage: Babylon says Genesis mainnet launched on April 10, 2025, its homepage currently shows 56,853.16 BTC staked, and the codebase has been audited by Coinspect, Zellic, Sherlock, Oak Security, Informal Systems, and Halborn. Even so, what stays in my head is the same quiet question, whether a system this young can keep earning trust as more people build around it.
