The more I study crypto infrastructure, the more I question whether we're solving the right problem. Every new blockchain focuses on speed, scalability, and liquidity, yet most still build their own security from scratch. That feels inefficient.
Babylon stood out to me because it takes a different approach. Instead of moving Bitcoin off its network, Babylon enables self-custodial BTC staking, allowing Bitcoin's economic security to help protect participating PoS blockchains. In my view, Bitcoin remains the security foundation, while BABY helps coordinate the protocol rather than replace Bitcoin's role.
I don't see Babylon as a perfect answer. Shared security could improve efficiency, but it also introduces new technical and governance trade-offs. Whether those trade-offs are worthwhile will depend on real-world adoption.
