For years, Bitcoin has been seen mainly as a store of value.
But what if BTC could do more — without leaving Bitcoin?
That’s where the idea of self-custodial Bitcoin staking becomes interesting.
Babylon is exploring a model where Bitcoin holders can help secure Proof-of-Stake blockchains while keeping their BTC on the Bitcoin network. Instead of relying on wrapped assets or moving BTC to another chain, the goal is to use Bitcoin’s security as a foundation for the next generation of blockchain networks.
The biggest part for me is the self-custody approach.
Bitcoin’s strength has always been its security and ownership model. Bringing that strength into the PoS ecosystem could open a new chapter where BTC is not just an asset people hold, but also a security layer powering decentralized networks.
Still early, still evolving — but the idea is definitely one worth watching.
