Everyone is fascinated by Babylon's cryptography.

I think they're looking in the wrong place.

The conversation always circles back to repayment proofs, native BTC collateral, Aave integration, and the fact that Bitcoin never needs to be wrapped.

But a proof doesn't create truth.

It only confirms something after everyone agrees on the rules.

Which oracle defines the price? Which validator's interpretation is correct? What happens when two honest participants see the same condition differently?

Those aren't cryptographic problems.

They're consensus problems.

With around 56,000 BTC tied into Babylon, the protocol's biggest challenge isn't generating better proofs—it's keeping thousands of participants synchronized around a single version of reality.

The recent BLS vote extension bug is a perfect example. It wasn't exploited, but it showed how validators omitting block hash data could introduce consensus issues. The math wasn't broken.

The coordination layer was.

Now pSTAKE has introduced liquid staking on Babylon, adding more capital, more participants, and more complexity. Every new layer increases the importance of everyone staying aligned.

The proof is the easy part.

The hard part is making sure the entire network agrees on what the proof actually means.

That's where the real security lives.
