i know that sounds like marketing. i thought the same thing. so i actually dug into how Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV) pulls this off.

theres no bridge. no wrapped token. no "send your BTC here and we'll give you an IOU on the other side." the bitcoin stays on L1 the whole time, locked in.... a vault,
while the collateral position gets recognized on the destination... chain through proof verification.

the cross-chain part isnt moving the BTC its moving the proof that the BTC is locked.

the asset never leaves. only the signal does.
