#baby $BABY I honestly rolled my eyes the first time I heard about Babylon. 😅

It felt like another project saying they’re gonna “unlock Bitcoin liquidity.” We’ve heard that so many times before. Usually it means wrapping BTC, trusting a bridge, and hoping nothing goes wrong.

But after reading more about it, I kinda changed my mind.

The biggest issue with Bitcoin in DeFi has never really been demand. It’s trust. Every bridge, wrapped token, or custodian adds another place where something can break. That’s always bothered me.

What I find interesting about Babylon is that they’re trying a different route with Trustless Bitcoin Vaults. The idea is to let native Bitcoin be used instead of depending on wrapped versions. If it works the way it’s meant to, that’s a pretty meaningful step.

Now, do I think this solves every trust issue? Nope. Not at all. The risks don’t disappear—they just change. Smart contracts, protocol design, governance, and integrations still matter. So I’d be careful about saying the trust problem is “solved.”

Still, I respect teams that spend their time fixing the boring infrastructure instead of chasing hype. Most people don’t notice that kind of work until years later, when everyone else starts building on top of it.

I’m keeping Babylon on my watchlist. Maybe it becomes a big deal, maybe it doesn’t. But at least they’re trying to tackle a real problem, and that’s worth paying attention to.

Just my thoughts—not financial advice. Always DYOR.
