One idea from Babylon's Trustless Bitcoin Vaults paper stayed with me long after I finished reading it.
The proposal isn't trying to make Bitcoin something different.
It's asking a more interesting question:
Can Bitcoin's existing security become the foundation for a broader financial ecosystem?
That distinction matters.
Many solutions begin by moving Bitcoin somewhere else or introducing additional trust. Babylon's research explores an approach where Bitcoin's native properties remain central while enabling new possibilities through decentralized validation.
Whether this architecture becomes a long-term standard will depend on adoption, testing, and developer support. But I generally find infrastructure projects more compelling than products built around short-term incentives.
Good infrastructure often goes unnoticed—until you realize everything else depends on it.
If you had to choose one principle that Bitcoin DeFi should never compromise, what would it be and why?
