But the more I watch, the more interesting question seems to be what happens underneath those claims. Privacy infrastructure can reduce how much users expose, but it doesn't make trust disappear. Users still depend on protocol cryptography, the security of the underlying network, the applications built on top, and the governance mechanisms that can intervene when something goes wrong. That distinction matters. A technical system may reduce one form of custodial or institutional trust while introducing other trust assumptions that are simply harder for ordinary users to see. Governance keys, emergency controls, implementation choices, validators, and community decision-making can all become part of the practical security model. I've been wondering whether communities sometimes confuse complexity with trustlessness. If the architecture becomes difficult to understand, users may simply transfer their trust from visible institutions to developers, validators, documentation, interfaces, and social consensus. That doesn't make the system inherently weak. It makes the trust landscape more interesting. Perhaps the real achievement of privacy-focused blockchains isn't eliminating trust, but making its boundaries more explicit and programmable.
