#dusk $DUSK @Dusk Quiet burn rate on Dusk that the emission story doesn’t mention
Was digging through the DUDE explorer while working on a CreatorPad task for Dusk and paused on block 4,314,618 (epoch 1998).
The 24-hour snapshot jumped out. Rewards handed out sat around 149,389 DUSK. Burns in the same window hit roughly 22,163 DUSK. That’s about 15% of the daily emission simply disappearing instead of circulating or getting reassigned.
The usual narrative leans hard on the 500 million total over 36 years and the smooth, predictable schedule. Watching the burn number tick up right beside the reward total made it feel less like a fixed curve and more like an ongoing push-pull: validators collect their cut while the protocol quietly removes a slice every block. That ratio doesn’t tend to make it into the polished decks.
Same window also showed 56 failed transactions. Tiny against overall activity, yet it’s the kind of real-world roughness that the clean “deterministic settlement” language usually glosses over.
I refreshed a few times to see if the burn percentage was just a blip. It held steady from what I could tell. Could be normal protocol behavior I’ve only now noticed, or it might shift with current load. Didn’t go deep enough to pin it down.
Anyone been watching whether that burn-to-reward ratio stays consistent across epochs, or does it move around with staking levels?
