What Could “BTC Token” Mean?
1. Bitcoin (BTC) — the original coin
This is the main Bitcoin cryptocurrency, not a “token” on another chain.
It runs on its own blockchain (the Bitcoin blockchain).
Total supply is capped (21 million BTC) per its design.
2. Tokenized BTC (Wrapped or Pegged Bitcoin)
These are “BTC” tokens but not native BTC — they represent BTC on other blockchains.
Example: WBTC on Ethereum — real BTC is held in custody, and an equivalent WBTC is issued, letting BTC be used in DeFi.
Another example: BTCB on Binance Smart Chain (BEP-20) — a pegged BTC token. > “What you’re withdrawing is not real Bitcoin … it is a token on the BNB chain”
3. Bitcoin Standard Hashrate Token (BTCST)
This is a very different kind of “BTC token.” Each BTCST token represents a portion of Bitcoin mining power (hashrate).
If you hold BTCST and stake it, you can receive Bitcoin rewards based on that hashrate.
It's on Binance Smart Chain (BEP-20) according to its whitepaper.
