In towers tall where ledgers sprawl,
The nation counts what debts enthrall.
From wars and aid to bailouts made,
Each borrowed dime a price unpaid.

Trillions stack in silent flight,
A shadow cast on morning light.
We print, we spend, we pledge, we owe—
Yet ask, how far can balance go?

With bonds we bind the future tight,
Each child inherits fiscal night.
Interest grows like creeping vine,
On every dollar, we entwine.

Time to pause, assess, reset—
Lest legacy be just regret.
A choice remains, not sealed by fate,
To rein the debt before too late.
