The Long-Range Rescue That Secured the Seas 🚢

The Indian Navy completed a successful 48-hour anti-piracy operation in the Arabian Sea, safely rescuing all 20 crew members from the Iranian fishing vessel Azini. The vessel had been hijacked by 12 heavily armed Somali pirates off northeastern Somalia, more than 3,000 km from Mumbai.

Guided-missile destroyer INS Kolkata led the response alongside MARCOS commandos, with Indian Air Force assets providing surveillance and coordination. All crew were recovered without casualties and the pirate threat was neutralized. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the joint effort, underscoring India’s ongoing commitment to securing sea lanes across the Indian Ocean Region.
