10 years behind bars

The founder of the darknet marketplace Silk Road, Ross Ulbricht, announced on the social network X (Twitter) that today marks exactly ten years since he has been in prison. It is believed that the post on X was written by Ross Ulbricht's family, as he does not have internet access in prison. Ulbricht was arrested in 2013 and sentenced to two life terms in prison for his involvement in creating and operating the "shadow" platform Silk Road. The platform was shut down because it facilitated the trade of drugs and other prohibited items through cryptocurrency. Ulbricht's post expresses concerns that he has no chances of gaining freedom. "Today marks a whole decade that I have spent in prison. Sometimes I fear that I will spend the rest of my life behind concrete walls and locked doors. But I have no one else to blame. My wrong choice brought me here. All I can do now is pray for mercy," wrote Ross Ulbricht in his account.
