A synthetic diamond made from graphite is much stronger than natural ones Previously, such diamonds were extracted only from impact sites of meteorites. Today, scientists have learned to produce them in the laboratory. Chinese researchers have synthesized an ultra-hard hexagonal diamond called lonsdaleite. The artificial crystal turned out to be about 40% harder than natural diamonds. It can withstand temperatures up to 1,100 ℃ and a pressure of about 155 gigapascals, whereas natural diamonds only withstand around 100 gigapascals and temperatures up to 700 ℃.

A beautiful life lesson: “ I heard my mother ask the neighbors for salt. But we had salt in the house. I asked her why she was asking the neighbors for salt, and she answered me: - Because our neighbors don’t have much money, and they often ask us for something. From time to time, I also ask them for something small and inexpensive, so that they feel that we also need them. In this way, they will feel more at ease and it will be easier for them to keep asking us for everything they need ”. Respect for human dignity is doubtless one of the noblest feelings. Pierre Bail.

Did you know? The flag of the Philippines 🇵🇭 has a unique feature: in peacetime, the blue stripe is on top, symbolizing peace and justice. In wartime, it is flown upside down, with the red stripe on top, to represent bravery and patriotism. It is the only flag in the world that changes in this way depending on the situation in the country!

The incredible theory of the World Cup knockout 🏆 Since gaining independence, Croatia has built one of the most beautiful World Cup journeys in history. But one surprising detail intrigues football fans. 🇫🇷 In 1998, Croatia are eliminated by France... who go on to become World Champions. 🇦🇷 In 2022, they are eliminated by Argentina... who also lift the trophy. What if this curious streak continues? 🤔 According to this theory, if Portugal were to eliminate Croatia at the 2026 World Cup, they might well secure their very first world title. Of course, this is only a statistical coincidence and not a football rule. Each World Cup writes its own story, and nothing guarantees this trend will continue. 💬 And you, do you think this streak will go on or end in 2026? Share your prediction in the comments! ⚽🔥

🇷🇺 The Mirny diamond mine in Russia is one of the largest pits dug by humans on Earth, and its scale is almost impossible to grasp at first glance. The open-pit mine stretches over more than a mile and goes deep into the ground, creating powerful air currents that move unpredictably inside and above the crater. These whirlwinds have become such a hazard that authorities have banned any helicopter flights over the mine.

Tardigrades are tiny animals often measuring less than a millimeter, but their resistance is extraordinary. Nicknamed water bears, they can survive temperatures near absolute zero as well as temperatures above 100 °C. When they lack water, they enter a state of dormancy called cryptobiosis, where their metabolism becomes almost nonexistent. In this state, some have survived for decades before resuming normal life after rehydration. They also withstand the vacuum of space and radiation levels that would be fatal to most living beings. In 2007, tardigrades were even exposed directly to space during a mission, and several returned alive to Earth. These incredible creatures remind us that the greatest champions of survival are sometimes invisible to the naked eye.

🩺 In 1651, a Dutch blacksmith named Jan de Doot is said to have performed an almost unimaginable act: he would have operated on himself to remove a bladder stone the size of an egg. The story, reported by the physician Nicolaes Tulp, left such an impression that a Flemish painter, Carel van Savoyen, created a portrait of the blacksmith around 1655… holding in one hand the knife, and in the other the stone extracted from his own body.

🇺🇸🇷🇺 One of the most profitable purchases in history! In 1867, the United States bought Alaska from Russia for only 7.2 million dollars… which is about 2 cents per acre. At the time, many considered this decision ridiculous. Today, this territory is rich in strategic natural resources (gold, oil, gas).

🌟 On the famous Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk, no star has ever been removed… and none can be removed. Classified as a historic monument, the Walk of Fame comes with a strict rule: once installed, a star is permanent. Even convicted criminals are still there. 🔴 Spade Cooley: country musician and TV star, convicted in 1961 of murdering his wife. His star had only been inaugurated a year earlier. 🔴 Gig Young: Oscar-winning actor, who in 1978 killed his wife three weeks after their marriage, before taking his own life. 📌 The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which manages the Walk of Fame, was clear: “A star is an integral part of the monument’s history. It cannot be removed.”

The yogi who supposedly went 70 years without eating or drinking. Prahlad Jani, an Indian mystic who passed away in 2020, claimed he hadn’t eaten or drunk anything since he was 11, thanks to a divine blessing from the Hindu goddess Amba. According to him, divine energy nourished him through a small opening in his palate. 🥼 This isn't just a wild rumor. He was medically monitored in 2003 and again in 2010 by teams of Indian doctors. For over 15 days, he was reportedly locked up without food or water, without urinating or defecating, and his medical results... were normal.

🌍 Did you know that Antarctica is the largest desert in the world? Despite its icy appearance, it receives very little precipitation (less than 200 mm per year, mostly as snow)! That's what makes it a desert, and with its 14 million km², it even surpasses the Sahara!

🇨🇭 In Switzerland, every resident has a spot in a shelter designed for emergency situations: armed conflict, natural disasters, or human-made crises. 👥 The majority of the population lives in buildings equipped with their own shelters. If needed, public shelters are available close to residential areas. Coverage varies by canton, and some municipalities are further boosting their network. This amounts to 9 million spots spread across nearly 370,000 private and public shelters. That's a coverage rate of over 100%!

An ant can't die from a drop. Due to their incredibly lightweight, sturdy exoskeleton, and wings, the maximum fall speed of an ant isn't enough to kill or injure it upon impact. In simple terms, they could survive a drop from 400 meters and walk away unscathed.

💰 YOUR "SALARY" COMES FROM SALT!  The origin of the word "salary" dates back to Ancient Rome! The powerful and conquering Roman legions were sometimes given a ration of salt or a sum of money to buy it, known as "salarium" (from sal, the Latin word for salt). It was compensation for their service.  Back then, salt was an extremely valuable commodity. So valuable that it literally served as a medium of exchange and payment. Salt was vital for food preservation, especially before the invention of refrigerators. Without salt, no preserved meat, no long journeys, no fed armies! It was worth its weight in gold, hence its nickname "white gold."
