Newton’s Permission Paradox: The Operator Set Is the Trust Assumption

@NewtonProtocol replaces centralized compliance APIs with a decentralized operator network. Operators evaluate policies, sign BLS attestations, and can be slashed for misbehavior.

Yet at its current stage, operator participation appears more controlled than fully permissionless. The roadmap points from Foundation-led involvement to broader outside operators and, eventually, open decentralization.

That creates a real trust assumption. Users rely not only on cryptographic verification, but also on Newton actually decentralizing over time.

Newton’s promise is verifiable automation. How fully it decentralizes the operator network will shape how credible that promise ultimately becomes.
