Cybersecurity firm Blockaid has flagged the official PEPE memecoin website as compromised. The front end has reportedly been injected with Inferno Drainer malware — a wallet-drainer toolkit used in phishing attacks.
What this means for you:
🚫 Visiting the site and connecting your wallet can redirect you to fake dApps
🧹 These pages try to get you to sign malicious approvals
💸 Once approved, they can drain your funds and NFTs from the connected wallet
Blockaid says the number of malicious dApps using Inferno Drainer has nearly tripled recently, even though the service was “shut down” in 2023.
How to stay safe:
Don’t connect a wallet to the PEPE website until there’s an official fix
Double-check any PEPE links shared in groups or on X / Telegram
If you interacted with the site recently, consider revoking approvals and moving funds to a fresh wallet
