The Ethereum Foundation has sent money to Argot again.
On-chain analyst Yu Jin monitors show that an hour ago, the Foundation granted the nonprofit development organization Argot 2,469 stETH, worth about $4.34 million, which has already been received.
Let’s look back at the background: Last July, the Foundation pledged 5 years of operating funding to Argot, totaling 7,000 ETH. After Argot received the first tranche, it sold 4,826.6 ETH at an average price of $3,194, obtaining 15.417 million USDC—essentially locking in a high cash-flow position before the bear market.
Today’s transfer is the funding for the 4th year. Next July, there will be the final tranche of 2,469 stETH to conclude the program.
My take:
- The Foundation’s grants have shifted from ETH to stETH, conveniently capturing an additional layer of staking yield—details worth paying attention to
- Argot’s historical operations are essentially “sell immediately upon receipt.” The subsequent destination of these stETH is a short-term spot-pressure item that needs watching
- Long-term funding of ecosystem development organizations = a持续、可预期的 sell-pressure source. This isn’t a negative, but it is a structural fact
$ETH holders can treat these kinds of Foundation transfers as routine cash-flow events and don’t overreact, but also don’t ignore them.
