Adnan Menderes (1899, Aydın - 17 Eylül 1961, Bursa) Tam adı, Ali Adnan Ertekin Menderes, 1950-60 yılları arasında Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin başbakanlığını yapmış, İstiklal Madalyası sahibi Türk siyasetçi, devlet adamı ve hukukçu.
1899 yılında Aydın'da doğdu. Babası İzmirli Katipzade İbrahim Ethem Bey, annesi Aydınlı Hacı Alipaşazadeler'den Tevfika Hanım'dır. Menderes, anne ve babasını küçük yaşta kaybettiği için onları neredeyse hiç hatırlamamaktadır. Hacı Ali Paşa dedesinden miras yoluyla kalan Aydın'daki Çakırbeyli Çiftliği ile Menderes, daha dokuz yaşındayken küçük ama yalnız bir ağa olmuştur.
Eğitim Hayatı

1946'da Demokrat Parti Kuruldu
Adnan Menderes, 1930 yılında kısa süreli de olsa Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası'nın bir kolunu organize etti. Partinin kendini feshetmesinden sonra ise Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi'ne geçti ve 1931 seçimlerinde Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi'nden Aydın milletvekili olarak seçildi. 1945 senesine kadar, TBMM'de komisyon raportörlüğü yaptı. O yıl Saracoğlu Hükümeti'nin gündeme getirdiği Toprak Kanunu tasarısını şiddetle tenkit ederek, komisyondan istifa etti. Partide yaptıkları muhalefetten dolayı, 12 Haziran 1945'te, Refik Koraltan ve Fuat Köprülü ile birlikte, CHP Disiplin Kurulu tarafından ihraç edildiler. Adnan Menderes (1899, Aydın - 17 Eylül 1961, Bursa) Tam adı, Ali Adnan Ertekin Menderes, 1950-60 yılları arasında Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin başbakanlığını yapmış, İstiklal Madalyası sahibi Türk siyasetçi, devlet adamı ve hukukçu.
1899 yılında Aydın'da doğdu. Babası İzmirli Katipzade İbrahim Ethem Bey, annesi Aydınlı Hacı Alipaşazadeler'den Tevfika Hanım'dır. Menderes, anne ve babasını küçük yaşta kaybettiği için onları neredeyse hiç hatırlamamaktadır. Hacı Ali Paşa dedesinden miras yoluyla kalan Aydın'daki Çakırbeyli Çiftliği ile Menderes, daha dokuz yaşındayken küçük ama yalnız bir ağa olmuştur.
Eğitim Hayatı
Okul hayatına, İzmir İttihat ve Terakki Mektebi'nde başlayan Menderes, eğitimine İzmir Amerikan Koleji'nde devam etti. 1931 yılında CHP Aydın milletvekili seçildikten sonra Ankara Hukuk Fakültesi'ne girerek, 1935 yılında mezun oldu. Yedek subay eğitimi almasına karşı, Birinci Dünya Savaşı'na sıtma hastalığına yakalandığı için katılamayan Menderes, Kurtuluş Savaşı'nda gösterdiği başarılardan dolayı İstiklal Madalyası almaya değer görüldü. İzmir'in ünlü ailelerinden, Evliyazade Fatma Berin Hanım ile 1929 yılında evlendi ve Yüksel, Mutlu, Aydın olmak üzere üç oğlu oldu.
Siyasi Hayatı
Menderes'in ilk siyasal yaşam mücadelesi ilginçtir ki aile içinde başlamıştır. Adnan Menderes politikaya atılma konusunda, bir taraftan çiftlik işlerinden dolayı çekince duyarken, bir taraftan da eşi Berin Hanım, Menderes'in politikaya atılması hususuna isteksiz yaklaşmıştır.
1946'da Demokrat Parti Kuruldu
Adnan Menderes, 1930 yılında kısa süreli de olsa Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası'nın bir kolunu organize etti. Partinin kendini feshetmesinden sonra ise Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi'ne geçti ve 1931 seçimlerinde Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi'nden Aydın milletvekili olarak seçildi. 1945 senesine kadar, TBMM'de komisyon raportörlüğü yaptı. O yıl Saracoğlu Hükümeti'nin gündeme getirdiği Toprak Kanunu tasarısını şiddetle tenkit ederek, komisyondan istifa etti. Partide yaptıkları muhalefetten dolayı, 12 Haziran 1945'te, Refik Koraltan ve Fuat Köprülü ile birlikte, CHP Disiplin Kurulu tarafından ihraç edildiler. Bu hareketler, Demokrat Parti'nin 7 Ocak 1946'da kurulmasına sebep oldu.
DP İktidarının Tek Başbakanı Oldu
1946 seçimlerinde, Demokrat Parti'den Kütahya milletvekili seçildi. Celal Bayar'dan sonra, partide ikinci adam durumuna geldi. 14 Mayıs 1950 seçimlerinde, DP, oyların 53,5'ini alarak iktidar oldu. On senelik DP iktidarının, tek başbakanı (22 Mayıs 1950 - 27 Mayıs 1960) oldu ve o döneme damgasını vurdu. İktidarı zamanında, 5 hükümet kurdu. Bu on senelik zaman içinde, Türkiye'nin iç ve dış siyasetinde büyük gelişmeler oldu. Sanayileşme ve şehirleşme hamlesi başladı. Köye makine girdi. Ulaşım, enerji, eğitim, sağlık, sigorta ve bankacılık yeniden başladı. Türkiye kalkınma kavramıyla tanıştı.
Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası, Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi ve Demokrat Parti'de siyaset yapan Menderes, 27 Mayıs askeri darbesinin ardından, 17 Eylül 1961 tarihinde asılarak idam edildi. Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi 1990 yılında çıkardığı yasayla, Menderes ve onunla beraber idam edilenlere itibarlarını iade etti.
