Recently, DeFi analyst Thor Hartvigsen interviewed Eclipse founder Neel Somani. Eclipse is an upcoming Ethereum Layer 2 that is different from other Ethereum Rollups in that it adopts modularity overall. Neel said that Eclipse uses the Solana virtual machine as the execution layer, Celestia as the data availability layer, and the Ethereum main network as the settlement and consensus layer. Eclipse will utilize Risc Zero for rollup proofing, which makes it different from other types of rollups. Regarding the launch time of Eclipse, Neel said that the plan is to complete these steps before the end of this year. Ideally, assuming that Celestia is stable and no other infrastructure is missing, the mainnet release will proceed.
