Bitcoin slips back below 80,000 as October turns into a weak month for buyers

Bitcoin is near 79,850 on Thursday morning Pakistan time, down about 1.3 percent in 24 hours, after giving back the bounce that followed the Fed holding rates at 3.75 to 4.00 percent. Ethereum is near 2,306, Solana has slipped under 100, and most large coins are in the red this morning.

A CryptoQuant report covered today puts the October story in numbers. Bitcoin is down about 4.2 percent so far in October, against an average October gain of about 18.1 percent since 2020. US spot demand has been negative every day since 14 October, and trader profit margins have fallen from about 33 percent to about 8 percent. The report puts the next support zone at 73,000 to 77,600. The next big test is still ahead today, with US PCE inflation and Q3 GDP due at 17:30 Pakistan time.

This is a market update, not a trade call. In a weak tape like this, small size and respected stops matter more than catching the bottom.
