How to Tell a Real Altcoin Run From a Liquidity Fakeout.

Not every altcoin move that outperforms Bitcoin is the start of a new trend. The difference usually comes down to spot demand, market structure, BTC dominance and underlying catalysts, rather than price alone.

$XRP is showing a more structural setup, with price holding above key EMAs and developing a multi-month accumulation structure. XRPL developments and institutional settlement activity provide additional catalysts, making sustained higher lows more important than a single breakout candle.

$NEAR is another high-beta case, with a higher-timeframe market-structure break supported by its AI and chain-abstraction narratives. Strong user activity and ecosystem expansion could provide underlying demand, but the move still needs to hold its structural breakout rather than rely solely on derivatives.

$DOGE and $BCH require more caution. DOGE is testing major resistance while spot inflows and rising futures open interest are driving volatility, creating a potential liquidity-sweep scenario. BCH has also produced sharp vertical moves from prolonged ranges, which can be characteristic of short squeezes when organic spot demand is limited.

Three confirmations matter when judging a BTC-decoupled altcoin move: spot absorption over open-interest expansion, BTC dominance weakening or consolidating while total market cap rises, and higher lows holding after the higher-timeframe structure break. Without those, an explosive move can still turn into a fast round-trip.
