🚨 STOP CHASING GREEN CANDLES: How to Find Crypto Coins BEFORE the Big Move
Most traders make the same mistake.
They open Binance, look at the Top Gainers, see a coin up 20%, 30% or 50%… and think:
“This coin is pumping. I should buy it now.”
Sometimes it works.
But very often, you are buying after the easy money has already been made.
The better question is not:
“Which coin is pumping?”
The better question is:
“Which coin is showing signs that buyers may be preparing for the next move?”
Here are the things I believe every trader should check before entering an altcoin.
🔎 1. Watch VOLUME Before PRICE
Price can move for many reasons.
But when volume starts increasing before a major breakout, it deserves attention.
Imagine a coin is trading around the same range for several days.
Price is not moving much.
Then suddenly:
📈 Trading volume increases
📈 Buying activity increases
📈 Price starts holding higher lows
📈 Resistance gets tested repeatedly
This can be much more interesting than a coin that has already gone +40% in one day.
Volume doesn't guarantee a pump — but unusual volume can tell you that something is changing.
🐋 2. Follow the MONEY, Not Just the Chart
A chart only shows you what happened.
On-chain data can sometimes give you clues about where coins are moving.
Things worth watching include:
• Exchange inflows/outflows
• Large wallet movements
• Increasing holder numbers
• Accumulation patterns
• Stablecoin liquidity
• Large transfers before major events
For example, if large amounts of a token consistently move away from exchanges, that can sometimes indicate reduced immediate selling supply.
But remember:
One whale transaction is NOT automatically bullish.
Context matters.
💰 3. MARKET CAP Matters More Than Coin Price
This is one of the biggest mistakes beginners make.
A coin at 10.
You have to look at:
Market Cap = Price × Circulating Supply
A $0.10 token with 100 billion coins can already have a massive valuation.
That's why I always ask:
“How much of this project is already valued by the market?”
Small market-cap projects can potentially move faster, but they also carry much greater risk.
⚠️ 4. NEVER Ignore TOKEN UNLOCKS
This is one of the most overlooked areas of crypto research.
A token may look extremely bullish…
Then suddenly millions of additional tokens enter circulation.
Where did they come from?
Usually:
• Team allocations
• Early investors
• Advisors
• Ecosystem funds
• Community rewards
When supply increases faster than demand, price can come under pressure.

So before buying an altcoin, ask:
“When is the next unlock?”
And more importantly:
“How large is that unlock compared with the circulating supply?”
A 1% unlock and a 10% unlock are two completely different situations.
🏗️ 5. Ask: WHY Does This Token Need to Exist?
A good-looking chart is not enough.
Look at the actual project.
Is it involved in:
AI?
RWA?
Bitcoin DeFi?
DePIN?
Stablecoins?
Gaming?
Infrastructure?
Or is the entire story simply:
“Everyone is buying it because the price is going up.”
Narratives can attract capital very quickly.
But the strongest projects usually have something beyond hype:
Users + product + ecosystem + liquidity + development.
🔥 6. Look for CATALYSTS Before the Crowd
A catalyst is something that can potentially bring new attention or liquidity to a project.
Examples:
🚀 Major network upgrade
🚀 New product launch
🚀 Exchange listing
🚀 Institutional integration
🚀 Partnership
🚀 Mainnet launch
🚀 Staking/yield launch
🚀 Tokenomics improvement
🚀 Major ecosystem expansion
The ideal situation is:
Good project + upcoming catalyst + increasing volume + reasonable valuation
rather than:
Coin already +80% + everyone talking about it.
🧠 7. Don't Confuse HYPE With STRENGTH
Social media can be extremely useful.
But it can also become an exit signal.
When you suddenly see:
“100X GEM 🔥🔥🔥”
“DON'T MISS THIS!”
“BUY NOW OR REGRET IT!”
the question should not be:
“How much can it pump?”
Ask:
“Who bought before me?”
If everyone is already bullish, there may be fewer new buyers left.
Sometimes the most interesting opportunities are boring.
A coin quietly accumulating for weeks can be more interesting than a coin everyone discovered yesterday.
🎯 My Simple Pre-Pump Checklist
Before buying any altcoin, I would check these 10 points:
✅ Market trend
✅ Trading volume
✅ Market cap
✅ Circulating supply
✅ FDV
✅ Token unlock schedule
✅ Whale/on-chain activity
✅ Upcoming catalysts
✅ Project development
✅ Social/narrative momentum
Then give the coin a simple rating:
🔥 8–10/10 = Strong candidate
🟢 6–7/10 = Watch closely
🟡 4–5/10 = Wait
🔴 Below 4/10 = Avoid
This doesn't predict the future.
It simply prevents us from making decisions based on one green candle.
🚨 THE BIGGEST LESSON
You don't need to catch every pump.
You only need to find a few good setups where:
Demand is increasing
+
Supply isn't creating major pressure
+
A real catalyst is approaching
+
The project has a reason to attract capital
+
The price hasn't already become extremely extended
That's where the real research begins.
Don't chase the coin after the explosion.
Study the conditions BEFORE the explosion.
The goal isn't to predict every pump.
The goal is to identify the setups where the probability is improving.
