Pepsi launches an NFT collection called “Pepsi Black Zero Sugar,” created by UK-based digital artist Timea Balo and the PepsiCo India design team. The 20 digital collectibles are minted on the Polygon blockchain.

The collection is a part of Pepsi’s mission to connect with the younger, more digitally savvy generation. NFTs will be up on the leading NFT marketplace, OpenSea, but further details are yet to be unveiled.

“The NFT art collectibles are centered on modifications made to the classic Pepsi Black “Zero” image, which were inspired by the brand’s passion points to represent significant features like as sustainability, rhythm, movement, creativity, art, the evolving social media landscape, and gamification.”

Winners of the #PepsiBlackeffect challenge, which takes place on the social media app Moj, will receive the Pepsi NFTs. Fans can participate in the contest with Pepsi Black lenses and “flaunt their max SWAG personas” for an opportunity to win digital collectibles. In addition to the NFTs, winners will receive Pepsi memorabilia.

Tanu Sinha, the design director at PepsiCo India, said: “Pepsi’s design strategy, over the years, has witnessed a significant shift with the acceleration of a digital-forward and social-media savvy world.”

Pepsi Black Zero Sugar is the company’s second NFT collection. In December 2021, Pepsi debuted its Pepsi Mic Drop Genesis NFT collection, which included 1,893 generative-style NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain. The music-themed drop was free to mint.

Pepsi’s top rival, Coca-Cola, has already ventured into NFTs. To celebrate Pride Day, Coca-Cola introduced an LGBTQIA+ NFT collection in partnership with South African designer Rich Mnisi. In July, Coca-Cola released the Friendship NFT drop to honor International Friendship Day. In September, Coke partnered with the digital fashion platform DressX to introduce a unique collection of digital clothing.
