Samsung just flipped the switch on a native USDC account for 82 million Galaxy users in the U.S. By tapping into $SOL, they are letting people buy, hold, and send digital dollars right next to their digital credit cards. You don’t need a separate crypto app or a recovery phrase because Bastion and Coinbase handle the custody on the backend.

The wallet allows for transfers to bank accounts in over 60 countries, though credit card top-ups will cost you a 4% fee. My read: while this removes the friction of managing private keys, it creates a massive honeypot of user data and centralized risk by putting the keys in the hands of third-party custodians rather than the users themselves.

Do you prefer the convenience of having your stablecoins inside your phone’s native wallet, or do you stick to self-custody apps where you hold your own keys? Let me know in the comments.
