I opened this 500× #BTC LONG on October 6. Thirty days later, it’s still open, still in drawdown, and some of you are still in my comments telling me it’s impossible.
So let’s go through the numbers...
I’m holding 0.50 BTC on cross margin with an account around $84,000. At the time of this screenshot, that position was worth about $40,000 and showed $84.59 in margin. For every $1,000 BTC moves, my position gains or loses about $500 before fees and funding. That’s the number I work with when I size a trade.
The screenshot shows an unrealized loss of $2,337.34. The big red −2,763% is measured against the position margin. My overall account drawdown is currently about 2%. Cross margin lets available funds in the account support the position, which also means the loss can go beyond the $84.59 shown on screen. I sized the trade so I could sit through a move against me and still have room to take other setups that fit my rules.
If you’ve spent the last month calling this trade fake, come into the Discord and ask me to walk you through it.
I’ve documented the challenge in public, and that includes the positions that sit in the red. I’m still managing this one. I’m sharing it now because how you handle a trade while it’s underwater tells you plenty about how you sized it in the first place.
We are the 1%.
