Coinbase says more than 99% of customer assets are kept in cold storage following binance's $6.3B security breach.

In a blog post published Wednesday, the exchange outlined the security measures it uses to protect customer funds and confirmed it was not affected by the Binance incident.

Here's how Coinbase protects user assets:

> 99%+ cold storage: most customer assets are kept offline, away from internet-connected systems.

> Distributed private keys: key management is spread across multiple components to reduce the risk of a single point of compromise.

> Withdrawal limits and anomaly detection: suspicious activity can be flagged, while withdrawal controls help prevent unauthorized transfers.

Coinbase also says customer assets are held 1:1, remain the property of customers and are not lent out or used without their authorization.

The Binance incident has put exchange security back in focus, especially how platforms store assets, manage private keys and monitor withdrawals.

Proof of reserves and security infrastructure both matter. keeping customer funds safe requires more than simply promising that balances are backed.
