Circle expands CCTP so issuer ERC-20s can move across chains on Arc without wrapped copies.
In an October 30, 2026 developer update highlighted around November 2, Circle outlined how Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) on Arc can carry issuer-operated ERC-20 tokens between supported networks using the same burn-and-mint path built for $USDC . Builders can deploy a native CrossChainToken or register an existing ERC-20 as a custom connection, keeping one shared token identity while each chain holds its own balances. Circle’s Iris service attests the burn before the destination mints.
Issuers keep ownership of admin roles, rate limits, and max transfer sizes; a Forwarding option can finish the destination leg so recipients need not pay gas there. The walkthrough targets payments, collateral, tokenized RWAs, and treasury flows after Arc’s September 16, 2026 mainnet launch with USDC fees. EURC and cirBTC already used expanded CCTP routes in September — custom tokens widen that toolkit further.
