Solana update: Alpenglow reported live on mainnet

October 21 reports citing Solana and developer Anza say Alpenglow is now live on Solana mainnet-beta. The reports say the Alpenglow genesis block has been produced and the previous TowerBFT consensus mechanism has been retired. They describe transaction finality falling from approximately 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds.

This updates the earlier scheduled-rollout report to a reported mainnet launch. The latest reports use a 12.8-second starting figure, different from the earlier six-second estimate. These are announcement figures; the supplied reports do not include independent post-launch measurements or establish how performance holds up across different network conditions.
