Zcash developers have agreed on block 3,543,405 as the proposed mainnet activation point for NU7, expected around November 5. The $ZEC upgrade would reduce target block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, allowing confirmations to arrive more frequently. The activation height is not final: the relevant pull request is still open, and node software must incorporate the change before deployment. The most consequential user risk involves Sprout, Zcash's original shielded pool. NU7 disables version 4 transactions, the only format that can spend Sprout funds. Any $ZEC still in that pool when the upgrade activates would become unspendable. The change also removes 60% of transaction fees from circulation for later issuance through the Network Sustainability Mechanism.Holders using legacy Sprout wallets and node operators should review official migration and software guidance before activation.
