For years, the corporate Bitcoin playbook looked simple: raise capital, buy $BTC, and hold for the long term. Then dozens of companies tried to copy Strategy's model. Now, the story is changing. A Financial Times analysis published in August found that Bitcoin treasury companies had lost more than $80 billion in combined market value since their 2025 peak. Several firms have reduced their Bitcoin holdings, while others are struggling with falling share prices and financing pressure. But here's the important distinction: selling Bitcoin doesn't automatically mean a company has lost faith in Bitcoin. ๐Ÿฆ 1. Debt has deadlines. Companies that borrow money or issue preferred shares to buy Bitcoin still have interest, dividends, and other obligations. When raising fresh capital becomes harder, selling BTC can become a way to meet those commitments. ๐Ÿ“‰ 2. The model works both ways. When share prices rise above the value of a company's underlying assets, raising capital can be attractive. When that premium disappears, the same strategy becomes much harder to sustain. ๐Ÿ‚ 3. Not every treasury company is exiting. Strategy itself continued buying Bitcoin, adding 250 BTC in the week ending October 11, according to its SEC filing. This shows that the companies following the same broad strategy are not all making the same decisions. โš ๏ธ What does this mean for Bitcoin? Corporate selling can add supply and create short-term pressure. But it doesn't prove that all institutional investors are bearish, nor does it tell us where BTC's price must go next. The real question is whether corporate demand can remain strong when financing becomes more expensive and market sentiment weakens. Are these companies abandoning Bitcoinโ€”or discovering that their financial model was too risky to survive a bear market? $BTC #Bitcoin #Crypto
