Super League shareholders approved a deal that would give Bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet a 93.7% ownership stake in the Nasdaq-listed company. Metaplanet will contribute 2,100 Bitcoin and $2.5 million in cash in exchange for common shares, preferred stock and warrants. The transaction would give Metaplanet control over Super League and access to US capital markets. Super League plans to rebrand as Superplanet and finance additional Bitcoin purchases primarily through senior, non-convertible perpetual preferred shares. Metaplanet's common shares will be subject to a five-year lock-up.
