Before enabling Kraken's Global Settings Lock, decide how you would unlock it if you needed to change your account settings.
Under Kraken's existing rules, you choose a waiting period for unlocking without a Master Key. That delay gives you time to react to an unauthorized unlock attempt, which triggers an email notification. It is also a delay you must wait through yourself if you lose the Master Key or never created one. Kraken says support cannot speed it up.
A Master Key can turn the lock off without that wait, but it must be created before the lock is enabled. You cannot add one while the lock is active. The shortcut also carries a trade-off: a compromised Master Key can undermine the protection of the waiting period.
