$MSTRB MSCI Finalizes Index Rules That Could Exclude Strategy and Crypto Treasury Firms

Latest Crypto Market News

MSCI has finalized new index eligibility rules that could put Strategy (MSTR), Metaplanet, and other cryptocurrency treasury companies at risk of exclusion from its global stock market indexes.

The new framework focuses on companies with significant non-operating assets and uses operating-asset tests and five financial ratios to determine eligibility. These rules replace the earlier approach that focused specifically on companies holding digital assets worth 50% or more of their total assets.

Strategy, one of the world's largest publicly traded Bitcoin holders, has previously criticized MSCI's proposal, arguing that it unfairly targets digital asset treasury companies.

MSCI is expected to publish the final list of potentially affected companies on November 11, 2026.

Why It Matters:

- Potential index exclusion could put pressure on affected companies' shares.
- Investor sentiment toward Bitcoin treasury companies may become more volatile.
- The decision could influence institutional investment and market confidence.

Market Outlook: Investors should closely monitor MSCI's announcement and the response from affected companies. The news does not automatically mean Bitcoin will fall, but it could increase volatility in crypto-related stocks.

What do you think? Will this decision negatively affect Strategy and other Bitcoin treasury companies?
