Crypto investor Christopher Harborne gave Nigel Farage £5 million (about $6.3 million) in April 2024, while Farage campaigned for Reform U.K. as a private citizen. Farage later described the payment as an unconditional gift from a grateful Brexit supporter. Harborne said in April that Harborne expected nothing in return. The Guardian revealed in June that Farage had met the Bank of England governor and urged the governor to abandon plans for a digital pound.
