Life Biosciences has just released the very first human data regarding ER-100, their partial epigenetic reprogramming gene therapy.

These early insights stem from an interim Phase 1 safety study evaluating the treatment for glaucoma. The trial is currently structured as an open-label investigation with no control arm. Out of the approximately 18 individuals planned for the overall project, three people have participated so far.

The preliminary safety profile is quite encouraging. The single dose administered to the participants was well tolerated through Day 56, with researchers reporting a complete absence of serious adverse events. Because of these favorable initial results, the safety board has recommended escalating the study to Dose Level 2.

Alongside the safety findings, researchers observed positive functional changes. For two of the three participants, 28 percent or more of their visual-field points demonstrated an improvement exceeding 4 dB.
