SpaceX’s next astronaut return now has a new target

Crew-13 just arrived at the ISS a few days ago

Now Crew-12 is preparing to come home

NASA and SpaceX are targeting no earlier than October 7 at 1:05 a.m. EDT for Crew-12 to undock from the International Space Station, with splashdown off California currently targeted for around 11:25 a.m. EDT on October 8

Dragon will bring home four crew members:

• Jessica Meir
• Jack Hathaway
• Sophie Adenot
• Andrey Fedyaev

Before departure, Meir will hand command of the station to Pyotr Dubrov during an October 4 ceremony at 10:20 a.m. EDT

The schedule follows a review of weather and splashdown conditions off California

Bringing astronauts home requires Dragon, recovery teams, weather and sea conditions to all line up

Another weather review is planned around 48 hours before undocking, and the exact splashdown location will be selected closer to departure

October 7 is the earliest target
