What comes next for crypto as October begins? The latest Bitcoin and Ethereum news puts investment demand back in focus, but a stronger forecast still needs support from actual buying.

Reuters reports that Citigroup raised its 12-month Bitcoin forecast from $82,000 to $113,000, and its Ether forecast from $2,240 to $3,028. The bank cited renewed ETF inflows, stronger crypto activity and supportive economic conditions. These are forecasts over the next year, not guaranteed prices or targets for this month. For context, Citi had lowered both forecasts in July as ETF flows weakened. The change is a reminder that institutional expectations can move significantly when market conditions change. (reuters.com)

What I’m watching next

My analysis focuses on three questions.

First, can Bitcoin attract consistent investment demand? Several weeks of sustained inflows would offer stronger evidence than a single positive headline. A reversal would weaken the case for continued upside.

Second, can Ethereum strengthen against Bitcoin? ETH’s dollar price can rise while it still underperforms BTC. Watching ETH/BTC alongside investment flows and network activity can help distinguish a broad market bounce from Ethereum-specific strength.

Third, will gains spread across the crypto market? A handful of rapidly rising altcoins does not establish an altseason. Broader participation and sustained volume would make that scenario more convincing.

Possible outcomes, not predictions

• Bullish scenario: Investment demand persists, Bitcoin holds its gains and buying spreads to Ethereum and other assets.

• Consolidation scenario: Optimistic headlines meet profit-taking, leaving the market moving sideways while investors wait for stronger evidence.

• Bearish scenario: Demand fades or economic conditions deteriorate, increasing the risk of a pullback.

The question I’m asking is simple: Will capital keep entering the market after the excitement around today’s forecasts fades?

That is the evidence I’ll be watching before drawing stronger conclusions about crypto’s next move.

Which signal matters most to you: ETF flows, ETH/BTC or broader altcoin strength?
