More than $500M in crypto shorts have been liquidated as Bitcoin pushed back above $80K, helping drive a massive rebound across the market. Data from CoinGlass showed roughly $547M in total liquidations over 24 hours, with shorts accounting for about $469M.

At the same time, the total crypto market cap has jumped by roughly $170B, showing how quickly forced buying can accelerate a recovery.

This is what happens when traders become heavily positioned for downside and price suddenly moves against them. Short positions get liquidated, those positions are closed by buying, and that buying can push prices even higher.

But the important part now is whether spot demand takes over after the squeeze.

The shorts got wiped out. Now we find out if real buyers can keep the rally going.
