"$BITCOIN Breaks Above $81K
$BTC has moved above $81,000, reaching its highest level since September 7.
The move triggered a wave of liquidations across the crypto market, with $458.95M in positions liquidated over the past 12 hours.
Short positions took most of the hit:
$47.26M in longs liquidated
$411.69M in shorts liquidated" means that Bitcoin rose past $81,000, its highest price since September 7. The sharp move upward forced many leveraged futures positions to close automatically because traders no longer had enough collateral to support them.

About $458.95 million in positions were liquidated in 12 hours. Most of that—$411.69 million—came from short positions, where traders had been betting that prices would fall. As Bitcoin climbed instead, their losses increased and many positions were forcibly closed. By comparison, $47.26 million in long positions—bets on rising prices—were liquidated, likely during smaller pullbacks or volatility elsewhere in the market.

In simple terms: the rally caught a large number of bearish, leveraged traders off guard, creating a short squeeze that may have added further buying pressure. Liquidation figures show market stress and leverage being removed; they do not by themselves guarantee the next price direction.
