Loss streaks are inevitable—even 60% win rate traders are statistically guaranteed to lose 5 in a row.

Most traders panic, abandon their strategy, or revenge trade into oblivion.

Here's how to actually handle them:

Identify WHY the streak happened. Then react accordingly.

5 possible reasons:

(1) You never had an edge
Most traders confuse luck with skill. Winning months = skill, losing months = bad luck?

Reality: Until you have 30+ trades with ONE consistent ruleset showing positive expectancy, you're gambling.

No edge = no business trading.

(2) Variance
Run your win rate through a Monte Carlo simulator. If you're within expected range, do nothing. Maybe risk less temporarily for psychological relief.

If you're outside the range, keep reading.

(3) Market conditions shifted
Your strategy won't work in all environments. If you're out of sync, drop risk by 75% and keep trading your system.

When win rate recovers, slowly scale back up.

(4) Psychology
If your strategy works and conditions are favorable, the problem is YOU not following your rules.

Identify your emotional triggers. Learn to avoid them and build resistance.

(5) Alpha decay
Rare because most traders never stick to one strategy long enough. If it happens, you lack the ability to evolve your edge.

Fix: Every 30 trades, test ONE new rule. Keep it if it improves expectancy. Drop it if it doesn't.

Repeat forever.

Losing streaks don't mean your system is broken. They mean you need to diagnose the actual problem instead of panicking.
