We have some encouraging updates regarding the latest employment figures. Initial jobless claims have recently dropped to 196k, coming in below both the anticipated 207k and the previous period's figure of 206k. At the same time, continuing claims settled at 1.730M. This result is also lower than the estimated 1.779M and the prior count of 1.769.
When we break down the data geographically, we can see a few distinct regional shifts. The most significant increases were observed in KY with +1.0k, HI with +0.2k, and AR/MA with +0.1k. On the other hand, the largest decreases took place in CA at -4.6k, TX at -3.0k, and MI at -2.2k.
